An NCCPA Update

We know it’s tough an dry to read those NCCPA emails each month. Let’s face it, your email might go directly to Spam or to “Promotions” for all you gmail users. We’ll break it down for you- short and sweet.

WHAT’S UP
It’s been a little while since we summed up the PANRE/ NCCPA vs AAPA/ notsurewhatsreallygoingon debacle. The last NCCPA News bulletin came at a bad time- we know you were all too busy making plans and cooking appetizers for the McGregor-Mayweather fight instead. (We were too, embarrassingly.) So we’re here to bring you the important points:

PANRE
The PANRE talks are STILL a thing. NCCPA is considering a pilot alternative to the current model. This will include another survey sent to all Certified PAs to help identify content areas that represent core medical knowledge that is relevant across all practice areas. The survey will come from research@nccpa.net, so check your spam folder if necessary. (In case you missed NCCPA’s July memo… The AAPA board of directors announced their decision to discontinue efforts to pursue a new rectifying body, and to participate more collaboratively with NCCPA to examine the recert process.)

In other news…

LOGGING CMEs
Next time you log on to NCCPA to track your CME credits, you’ll now have the ability to apply a tag. This tag is used for those PAs pursuing a CAQ, or for any PA to track what areas of medicine you’ve completed CMEs in. In case you forgot, CAQ stands for “Certificate of Added Qualifications”.  If you did complete CME credits towards a CAQ, exams are being offered Sept 18-21 at Pearson VUE Centers across the country. The deadline to apply for these exams is Sept 14, 2017.

Last month,  the NCCPA Newsletter also discussed Portfolio Programs for CMEs and expansion of PI-CME. We feel this needs a full discussion, so stay tuned for an upcoming post on ALLLL the details around the ~mystery of CMEs~.
